Thallus sometimes almost absent, sometimes almost continuous, of dull, granular, frequently flattened, scattered areolae, occasionally solitary, gathered into small groups, or into small pulvinate clusters, golden yellow to yellow-orange, greenish yellow in shade. Apothecia to 1.5 mm wide, sessile, solitary, sometimes clustered; disc flat to convex, yellow-orange; exciple at first entire becoming crenulate, sometimes becoming granular-sorediate, sometimes disappearing, concolorous with thallus; hymenium to 85 µm tall including granular yellow epihymenium. Asci 37.5–50 × 16–20 µm. Ascospores to 32 per ascus, ellipsoidal to long-ellipsoidal, simple, often appearing 2-celled, occasionally slightly curved, 8–12 × 4–6 µm. | ||
A cosmopolitan species; occurs in all southern States and the A.C.T.; also on Heard Is., Lord Howe Is. and Norfolk Is. | ||
